Submitting an Article

In&Out is not presently soliciting articles, but many people have asked about writing for the magazine. As space permits, we do wish to publish high-quality content from talented writers in the community on topics that fit with our editorial mission.
Unsolicited articles will be reviewed and considered for publication by the magazine's editorial staff. Submission does not guarantee publication.
We are not presently providing compensation for unsolicited manuscripts that we publish.
I. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
If you wish to promote an event in Anthem that is open to the public, we encourage you to submit the details of that event to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Listings are published free of charge.
Editorial and advertising decisions are separate. One does not affect the other. In&Out does not sell advertising in exchange for any promise or commitment to run articles. To the contrary, the magazine strives to create a very clear distinction between editorial content and advertisements. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of what the magazine staff determines is of interest to Anthem residents (we encourage you to provide feedback so we know how we are doing).
The goal of any story submitted to In&Out should be to inform and/or entertain Anthem residents. We will not consider any article that strives primarily or overtly to promote a business or other entity. Articles may be edited for length, style, accuracy and clarity.
II. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS
Ownership: By submitting an article, you guarantee to In&Out Publications that the article has not been published elsewhere in whole or in part. All unsolicited articles submitted to In&Out Publications, if published, become the sole property of In&Out Publications, which retains the right to publish the article in any print publication, online, or elsewhere in any form into perpetuity with no restrictions. You agree to not publish the article elsewhere.
Acceptance or Rejection: Submission does not guarantee publication. In&Out reserves the right to reject any submission for any reason and is under no obligation to explain why. Due to the volume of unsolicited articles, we unfortunately cannot promise a reply. If a submission is chosen for publication, you will be contacted in advance of publication.
Copyright Law: Do not copy other writing. This should be obvious, but for those not familiar with copyright law, any story you submit must be your words and not those of someone else (which violates copyright laws). If in brief passages you cite other comments, ideas or facts from another person or institution, credit that material accordingly.
Additional Writer Responsibility: You must supply your legal name to be published with the article. We will not consider anonymous articles or articles written under pseudonyms or "pen names." If you work for or are involved in any business, cause, organization or institution that could be construed as being related to the topic matter of an article, you must divulge that to In&Out Publications.
III. WRITING GUIDELINES
Topics and Style: In&Out looks ahead. Articles should be about the present and the future, not the past. Articles should be informative and positive, not opinionated or negative. Do not write in the first person (that is, don't use the words I, me, my or mine). Stories should be about other people, places or events, not about the writer.
Accuracy: Check your facts. Even experts can get things wrong, and we check facts before we publish any article. One error makes us distrust other facts in an article, decreasing chances of publication.
Length: Maximum 400 words. There is no minimum.
By submitting an article, you have agreed to listed above.
