An Appetizer for the Table

One of my family’s favorite appetizer to order in a restaurant is stuffed mushrooms. We truly love them, but we never order them as our own individual appetizer. I guess we don’t view them as “appetizer-worthy.” So, we always order them for the “table.” That means we ask for a few orders for everyone at the table to share in addition to our chosen appetizers. I’ll never forget the one time I forgot the unspoken, stuffed-mushroom rule, and I choose them for my own appetizer. Necks snapped as my family turned towards me, and with shocked eyes, they admonished me: “Rookie mistake.

On Tuesdays from Feb. 7 through tax day, AARP will offer free IRS tax preparation from 9 a.m.– 2 p.m. at the Community Center in Anthem for basic personal filings.
Neighbors do not need to be AARP members to participate, however the service is intended primarily for low and moderate income families, with special

Creek and Sandra Day O’Connor High Schools are invited to apply for the Rotary Club of Anthem’s annual scholarship. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 award based on academic performance, service to the community, personal merit and leadership.
Anthem's BIG 'Enhancement'?

During the past four years, multiple efforts to identify ways to enhance Anthem living have identified these top priorities: An additional community center, a performing arts center, a senior center and teen space, an additional pool and a walkable downtown.
Despite multiple surveys, community meetings and commissioned reports, Council has prioritized a different type of enhancement; an office building. With its lease set to expire in 18 months, its landlord in foreclosure, a distressed real estate market and low interest rates, Council, like many others, has the urge to buy property.
