On Tuesdays from Feb. 7 through tax day, AARP will offer free IRS tax preparation from 9 a.m.– 2 p.m. at the Community Center in Anthem for basic personal filings.
Neighbors do not need to be AARP members to participate, however the service is intended primarily for low and moderate income families, with special
attention to those individuals 60 and older. For more info, 623 879-3011 or aztax-aide.org.
Creek and Sandra Day O’Connor High Schools are invited to apply for the Rotary Club of Anthem’s annual scholarship. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 award based on academic performance, service to the community, personal merit and leadership.
Residents of Anthem East may want to dial back irrigation systems or put off refilling the swimming pool in the first quarter of 2012. New Arizona American Water wastewater rates go into effect in June based on your actual water usage in January, February and March for the more than 8,000 customers in this area.
This is a great time to tighten water usage anyway, as the second wave of rate increases takes effect Jan. 1, 2012. Expect the third wave to hit this time next year.
