Jerry Kowalski's life touched many, so many honor him.
Thursday [Feb. 18] was the celebration of life service for Jerry Kowalski. Jerry was one of the founding members of ProMusica Arizona Chorale in 2003. He donated many hours to PMAZ and other groups around Anthem.
We had some terrific photos of him over the past seven years. I went to CVS Pharmacy to make copies for a display depicting all the ways Jerry had lent his time, talents and smile to our community. After turning in the photos for printing, the young lady behind the counter gave me bad news that the photo machine was down and she was trying to fix it. I indicated I would simply wait because I really needed the photos quickly to prepare the display. While waiting, a friend came by and we stood by the photo counter reminiscing about this generous, kind and fun loving man. A half hour passed and we were still laughing and crying, remembering Jerry and some of his antics. Finally, the machine was fixed and the pictures were forthcoming. When I went to pay for the 25 copies and enlargements, the very kind woman behind the counter apologized for the long wait. Then she continued, “I didn’t realize these were for a funeral. What a marvelous man. I can’t possibly charge you after your long wait and then hearing what this man did for our community.” Why am I not shocked? Thank you to this wonderful employee at CVS. Jerry was the poster boy for “paying it forward” and his example still inspires. —Connie Campbell Henry ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra Tribute to the Life of Jerry Kowalski Thursday, March 4, 6:30–8 p.m. Anthem School, 41020 N.
