This year’s run is on March 27 and proceeds go toward helping local children as well as children around the world.
By In&Out Staff Writers This year’s run on March 27 is dedicated to helping children. A portion of entry fees and/or donations will go to help terminally ill children with medical bills through We Care. Some will provide clean drinking water to Central Americans and African children through Water for Our World. Some will benefit local children through the Character Counts program. Every dollar donated to Emma’s Run goes directly to these charities. Those working for Emma’s Run are unpaid volunteers who simply want to help children.
Entry fees for the race, however, pay for the race event (police, barricades, the race event company, T-shirts, etc.) with a small portion going to the charities. For this reason, donors are critical to the fundraising effort of this event. Runners, walkers and spectators are encouraged to donate.
Emma’s Run is a memorial run for Emma Simpkins, daughter of Bill and Abby Simpkins, who died in a tragic car accident on March 26, 2006. io |
