A caring commnity—and a microchip—helped Guinness get back home.
When my husband and I woke up [on a recent morning], we found our front door open and our 11-year-old labrador, Guinness, missing. We did not know how the door got open or how long Guinness had been gone. My husband drove around the neighborhood for an hour looking for him, while I phoned the golf courses, the guard gates, all of our neighbors, and Anthem Pets. Not knowing if he had been out for seven hours or two, we had no idea where to look.
We tried to explain to our children in the best way that Guinness was lost, without his collar, and we were hoping a nice person would find him and take him in so he would be safe until we could find him.
That is just what happened. I got a call three hours later. Guinness was safe and sound at the Animal Hospital at Anthem. The kindest woman named Pat had found him that morning, not far from our home, while walking her own dogs. She and a friend took him in, played with him, fed him treats and took him to the vet’s office to see if he had a microchip since there was no collar.
Our contact info was not current with HomeAgain [the microchip registry] so the caring staff at the Animal Hospital at Anthem worked with the company to get ahold of us.
When I got the call, I was thrilled and so thankful we live in this community of caring neighbors.
Thank you so much to Pat and her friend for taking such good care of Guinness. Thank you to the Animal Hospital at Anthem and Kimberly for working to find our contact information.
