State Sen. Pamela Gorman and State Rep. Sam Crump, both Anthem residents and both republicans, declared candidacy for U.S. Congress last week. They are joined by Arizona Rep. Jim Waring (R) and Paradise Valley Mayor Vernon Parker.

On Jan. 14, U.S. Rep. John Shadegg, representing congressional district 3, announced he will not seek reelection to the House of Representatives in 2010, setting off a wave of political repositioning statewide.

In a statement, Shadegg said this is a particularly difficult time to leave office, but called it necessary. “…Rest assured, I will continue to remain in the fight for freedom and defend American exceptionalism,” Shadegg said. io
