Drivers Find Renewed Value in Old Cars

Car fever. It’s something we all get from time to time. The impulse can be costly. But as new cars sit on the lots, there’s a long line outside local garages to keep the old car reliable.

Anthem’s John Kinnaman had a touch of car fever a few weeks ago. After pricing new and used cars, his temperature cooled and he decided his 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee didn’t look that bad after all. “I didn’t want to get a bank loan because I didn’t want payments, the way the economy is. And, we didn’t want to break into the savings.”

Paseo Community Meeting

Residents will have the opportunity to meet with ACC HOA management and Valley Crest staff regarding neighborhood landscape issues, lighting and other concerns— such as whether Paseo falls under

Parkside HOA rules or Council’s rules. Paseo is a neighborhood of “patio homes” whose landscape is maintained by Council. HOA fees are higher than Parkside to fund the maintenance. A letter to Council expressing concern over poor maintenance was signed by dozens of Paseo residents.

New Coach at Helm of Dolphins

Head coach Scott Newell was hired by ACC to lead the Dolphins swim team, as well as develop and lead the Masters Swim program, swim camps and triathlon training for adults and children.

The Caepe School to Cut Classes

Anthem private school The Caepe School announced Nov. 28 they will discontinue grades 9 through 12 at the end of the year due to lack of enrollment.

Council Readies Policies for Election 2012

Just before the start of the 2012 ACC Board of Directors election process, the ACC formally agreed to update its director qualification policy within the by-laws during its Nov. 16 meeting by a 4–2 vote.

But to make it official, Pulte needs to give it the nod, and ACC has yet to receive that stamp of approval. The modifications define compliance requirements during the election process and a board member’s term. Suggested changes to the by-laws came about after eligibility questions began to surface when Council President Craig Boates sold his home.
